( The English first legislature)

It was divided into 1. Legislative parliament that was subdivided into House of Lords and House of Commons 2. Executive. Aristocrats were the privileged high class, they were part of the house of lords, they were not elected but they got the spot by heritage. The colonist government had 2 legislature, they also had an elected assembly and a council, tis council was elected by the governor and this spot was for life, meaning you were council until you died or until you retired. The colonist did not elect members from the British Parliament as a protest for the taxes, and also the British government was not democratic at all, because the high class percentage was lower, and they controlled Europe and the whole low class who were more of the percentage of the high class, and this was they thought that no men created equal as ” Lord North” said in 1770. (prime minister of England). The only thing these government had was that wealthy men or the high class were the ones who had the power, even on the same government.

Which are the main differences of the British and the Colonial Government?

(The picture is the Colonial government and the Crown before the Stamp Act)

The colonial Government differ from the British Government because the colonist had a more formal style in their documents, while British Government had no formal style in their constitution. Another difference is that the colonial Government allowed two thirds of free colonial men with enough property to vote, it differs from the British because in England only one quarter of the population could vote. The colonist also lacked from aristocrats the once that controlled were the merchants and farmers, while in England aristocrats were the ones who control everything since they had the money they demand what they wish, and regret whatever they did not like.
